The Passionist nuns of Pittsburgh, PA. is the first community of Passionist Nuns in the U.S., founded on July 10, 1910 by five Passionist Nuns from Tarquinia, Italy. We are a contemplative cloistered community of religious women called to stand at the foot of the Cross with Mary near the Heart of Christ, ready to receive His love so that we might become love in the Heart of the Church.
By the charismatic grace of the Spirit, we are consecrated by vow to the Mystery of the Passion which gives inspiration and unity to our lives. Rooted in the Paschal Mystery, we participate in the redemptive mission of Christ’s Passion, a silent but powerful apostolate which benefits everyone by our love, prayer, and suffering in union with Christ.
